The Western Idaho Racing Association was developed in the 1970’s as a means to improve racing for Stock Car Divisions at Meridian Speedway. Over the years, W.I.R.A. has played many roles with the changes in automobile racing, promoters and the community to develop and evolve into what it has become today. The Western Idaho Racing Association promotes commaroderaty and strives for the betterment of racing within the community.
Currently, W.I.R.A. has the benefit for W.I.R.A member racers, besides the various discounts at several local businesses. “The Pot of Gold” is a cash award program for the top W.I.R.A. member drivers in each class that qualifies and is distributed at the end of the race season.
W.I.R.A. member drivers must complete 75% or more of their races to qualify. The program is currently funded through membership fees and various fundraising throughout the entire year.
